About

The Perennial Wildflower

Hi, I'm Jill.

As a kid I remember feeling deeply influenced when I learned that humans have a direct impact on the health of the planet. Lessons about deforestation, the impacts of oil spills on ecosystems and threats facing wildlife were startling realizations that turned my young worldview inside out.

Disheartened by the challenges but optimistic that I could do my part, simple ideas like "leaving no trace" outdoors and turning the water off while brushing teeth became meaningful tips turned into life-long practices.

Now, as my desire to learn more and live more sustainably has grown, so has my call to action to pass on that information. How can I show my kids how to be good stewards of the earth they will inherit? The earth that gives us so much!

My hope in starting this blog is that I can explore ways to do a little better in my own family-life and home, broaden my understanding of what's possible through sustainable living and share what I learn with you. I think it's a process that probably looks different for each of us, but leads to the same, shared goal: to help the planet

I challenge you to think about the areas of your life where you can integrate more sustainable practices, and I invite you to stick along with our journey.

Through enough small steps toward more eco-friendly living, maybe we can all get somewhere together.
